The Roman Colosseum is a big building that is known for its wonderful architecture. It was a gift given from the Emperor Vespasian of the Flavian dynasty to the Romans in 70-72 A.D. and later named it the Flavian Amphitheater. The colosseum opened in 80 A.D. and was used for 100 days of games including animal fights, and gladiatorial combats. The colosseum became to fall apart but has still continued to be a large tourist destination.
Inside the amphitheater could hold around 87,000 although now could probably fit 50,000. The Emperors got the special boxes that gave the best view of the area. On that same level, the class of Senates could bring their own chairs and sit their too. The level above was occupied by knights. The tier above that was taken up by the plebeians. The lower seats were taken by the rich and the highest seats were taken by the poor. The very very top level was for slaves, very poor, and women.
