The Theatre of Pompey was built in the later era of the Roman Republic and took a total of 7 years to build. It was one of the first non-wooded theaters in Rome. It is surrounded by beautiful gardens, fountains, and statues. There were also rooms dedicated to Pompey Magnus and his art that he collected. Pompey is also known for the hole that is in the middle of the theater inside. When it rains, the water goes into the hole and goes through a drain and out into the storage water tank.
Theatre of Pompey was also where a very big murder was hold. Julius Caesar was stabbed to death by Brutus. The spot where Julius was killed is now covered by cement and will be preserved for ever.
The theatre has been damaged through out the years but thousands of people come to see it each year.
This video shows what the inside would look like!
